We are thrilled to share some exciting news from Ms. Parks' class here at the Advanced Learning Center! Three of our talented students attended the TSA State Competition yesterday: Parker Thalman, Jeddrek Rockwood, and Otto Schoenfeld.(It's worth noting that Otto's first name is actually John, but everyone affectionately calls him Otto.) The students competed in CAD - Engineering, Flight Endurance, and Technology Problem Solving. We are incredibly proud to announce that Otto Schoenfeld secured a silver medal in CAD - Engineering! This achievement is particularly special as it marks a significant win for our class in our first year of participation in this competition. Congratulations to Otto, Parker, and Jeddrek for their dedication and hard work. We look forward to seeing even more amazing accomplishments from our students in the future!

Mr. Talbot
We had a fantastic group of students from Spanish Fork Jr. High visit the Advanced Learning Center today for a tour. It was a joy to showcase our classes and the amazing things our students are accomplishing here at the ALC. Their enthusiasm was contagious, and we hope they left inspired by the possibilities they saw. A special thank you to Ms. Mila Ryder for organizing and bringing these students to explore the ALC. Your efforts are greatly appreciated!

Each year the computer-aided design (CAD) students are challenged to design, model and create 3D-printed pinewood derby cars. Once students have printed their cars, it's time to hit the track! In a March Madness style bracket, students duel to be the fastest in class! This year, for the first time ever, Logan Spendlove (car pictured) beat Mr. Barlow's car by 0.01 seconds! Congratulations to this years' 3D champions! https://youtu.be/XpZUkaewtX0

The criminal investigations class has been learning about forensic and physical evidence. As part of their learning experience, the students were tasked with locating, developing and lifting latent fingerprints off an item from a simulated crime scene. Fingerprint evidence can be crucial in linking a suspect to a crime scene, as well as excluding others from potential wrongful criminal charges.

For this ALC student design project, the purpose was to enhance students' engineering design skills through computer-aided design (CAD) software. Students were challenged to fully design, model and create functioning electric desk lamps. Students creativity exceeded expectations impressing not only their teacher Mr. Barlow, but also a visiting manufacturing engineering professor, Dr. Michael Miles, from Brigham Young University (BYU). Excellent work, ALC Advanced CAD!

We are thrilled to share an exciting project undertaken by our ALC Carpentry class! The Career and Technical Education (CTE) office of the Nebo School District reached out to our talented students for a special task: designing and constructing a storage shed for the Spanish Fork High School Early Childhood Development class. This wasn't just any shed. The requirement was unique—it needed to be constructed in a way that allowed it to be taken apart at the seams. This feature was essential for transporting the shed on a trailer, ensuring it could be easily moved and then reassembled to serve its purpose on the playground at Spanish Fork High.
