In a delightful twist of fate, our Principal, Jo Lynn Ford, and Assistant Principal, Kali Brown, both arrived at school last Friday morning sporting matching Band T-shirts. This unexpected but charming coincidence brought smiles to everyone’s faces and reaffirmed the old saying, "Great minds think alike."
Our leaders demonstrated not only school spirit but also the wonderful camaraderie that exists within our learning community. Their twinning moment brightened up Band T-shirt Friday and showed that sometimes, the best plans are the ones that aren't planned at all. Let's give a round of applause to our "Queen” B's" for setting the tone for a fun and connected school atmosphere!

Congratulations to all our students for completing their finals! We know how hard you've worked, and we are incredibly proud of each and every one of you.
As a special Christmas gift from all of us at the Advanced Learning Center to our amazing students, we hosted our 2 Days of Waffles! This is a tradition we all look forward to every year, where we get to show our appreciation for our students through delicious waffles.
Our students deserve it! The students love it, the faculty loves it, and it's a wonderful way to celebrate the holiday season together.
Thank you for being a part of our school community. We are grateful for the opportunity to support and educate such wonderful students.
Merry Christmas to All!

The Nebo School District is pleased to recognize five outstanding employees with the Positive Energy and Kindness (PEAK) Award for the month of December. These individuals were nominated by their peers, students, and community members, for consistently demonstrating exceptional positivity, kindness, and a strong work ethic. Congratulations to our very own, Natalie Grant, from the ALC!

Every year, NASA hosts an App Development Challenge (ADC) that is focused on getting middle and high school students excited about programming, technology, and space exploration. For this year’s challenge, teams were given 10 weeks to create an application that visualizes the flight path of Artemis II, while indicating which of NASA's antennas are available to communicate with Earth in real-time. The top teams from the challenge will have an opportunity to present their app to a team of Subject Matter Experts at NASA, as well as being invited to the Johnson Space Center in Houston as part of the culminating event in April 2025.
We enjoyed working on the application and hope to be invited to the Johnson Space Center in April 2025!

The Teaching as a Profession classes have had an incredibly busy and productive month! Here are some of the exciting activities and preparations they've been involved in:
Creative Teaching Techniques: Our students have been learning innovative ways to integrate holiday themes into their lessons. A standout example is their "Turkey Math Solving Lesson," which creatively combines math skills with holiday crafts. This approach not only enhances their teaching repertoire but also makes learning more engaging for their students.

Our Travel and Tourism class had the opportunity to visit the Provo Airport. Students learned about air travel, flight details and toured the facility. They learned about the business side of air travel. Thank you, Provo Airport, for letting us come visit!

Mr. Ford's Contract Law class learned all about the six parts of a valid contract, as well as which element "duress" falls under. Instead of just memorizing definitions, they were able to participate in a mock trial: Rumpelstiltskin vs. The Queen. Each of the students portrayed a different member of the court: judge, jury member, defendant, prosecutor, etc. Who do you think won?

In our Computer Science Principles class, students explored the concept of "functions"—blocks of organized, reusable code that execute only when it is called. The students did a great job creating amazing drawings that demonstrated both their coding skills and artistic creativity!

On November 14, the ALC held its first biennial speech contest. Participants gave a 4-5 minute speech on the topic of their choice and were judged by a panel of three speakers.
Great work, students!
